Getting traffic to your website can be expensive if you do not know what you are doing. When I say expensive, I am talking about adwords, and cpa programs. Where you pay for the clicks to drive traffic to your web site.

A lot of folks are very successful using those methods and yet others can burn thorugh a ton of money in a day and not get the results they desire. You can easliy spend a hundred dollars a day before you know it. If you are spending a hundred dollars and making two hundred back then I myself would do that all day long .

But realistically you realy have to know what you are doing, and have a nice little budget to begin with. The competition for the best keywords is very stiff, and that drives up the prices , it is the old supply and demand that drives the prices.

If you want a free method of getting traffic you should try article wriiting. You write the article and put your website links in the article and you also get a bio box to include info about yourself and your website links.
Then you submit your article to the article directories and once they approve it they post it on their website for others to read and use on their websites and blogs. Here is a free ebook about article writting

That will get your article seen by many folks and will drive some of them to your website. Of course this method of driving traffic takes time but it is free. If you dont like writting or dont feel you have the skill set you can always use PLR articles.. PLR artices let you claim the articles as your own, you can put your name as the author. You should try to change the article a little before posting it so it looks different. But that is a lot easier than writting an article from scratch.
